MALMÖ, Sweden: Celebrating this year’s World Smile Day on 7 October, Swedish oral hygiene company TePe has introduced the Smile-o-meter. Aiming to highlight the importance of a healthy smile, the web-based app (accessible via a computer or mobile device) measures people’s smiles. According to the company, everybody who has his or her smile captured by the Smile-o-meter will receive a free dental care product from TePe.

Under the motto “Every smile counts”, the initiative was first introduced at a TePe pop-up store in a Malmö shopping centre from 23 September to 7 October. “To celebrate World Smile Day and to make people smile more, we launched the Smile-o-meter,” explained TePe Marketing Director Hanna Sjöström regarding the initiative. “We wanted to reward people for smiling,” she added.

At the pop-up store, visitors could have their smile measured. The bigger their smile was, the more TePe oral hygiene products they received free. With the initiative, the company aimed to highlight that, by using oral hygiene products, people can keep their smiles healthy throughout their lives.

According to TePe, almost 4,000 smiles were captured with the Smile-o-meter over the course of two weeks. The initiative is now being continued online at www.smileometer.se.
