NEW YORK, N.Y., USA: Dr. Bernard Fialkoff, a periodontist and dental implant surgeon from Bayside, N.Y., and president and founding sponsor of Foundation for a Drug Free World of the Americas Chapter, partnered with the Bronx YMCA, Police Athletic League, National Council of Drugs of Haiti, CG Global Consultants, International Human Rights Commission, Laterna Restaurant and the National Latino Officers Association of America to provide free drug education booths at more than 15 NYPD precincts at National Night Out, held recently.

The purpose of the booths was to provide effective and accessible drug education and prevention to New York City communities at large to help deter staggering drug trends in synthetic drugs, heroin and prescription drug abuse.

Volunteers from the sponsoring organizations gave out more than 7,500 free drug education materials at the various precincts. Drug Free World’s booths were present citywide. Internationally, Drug Free World has distributed 62 million of its educational booklets in more than 123 countries since its inception in the early 1990s.

National Night Out is an annual summer event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watches, in which precincts organize anti-crime rallies with the participation of local business and civic organizations. National Night Out helps to building relationships and partnerships among the police and community.

Volunteers at the booth provided free and accessible drug education and prevention materials.

Fialkoff said, “It is important to share the knowledge we have gained as adults with our children. They are the future generation and can be helped to avoid problems that we went through in our lives. As a doctor, one of our roles is to help our community, and that’s why I support the Drug Free World initiatives.”

Brookyn Borough President Eric L. Adams recently held an interfaith event with Drug Free World, providing drug education training to New York City’s religious leaders. Assemblyman Felix Ortiz presented a proclamation to the organization at their Drug Free Hero Awards Gala, and held a press conference to provide the foundation’s free drug education booklets and curriculum in Chinese to his Chinese-speaking constituency.

Fialkoff sponsors the humanitarian youth outreach and educational program Foundation for a Drug Free World. Through his office’s sponsorship, more than 1,100 free drug education events have been conducted at schools, after-schools and other community sites throughout New York City, New Jersey and Latin America, where multitudes of our youth and kids have been safeguarded from the ravages of drugs. Fialkoff’s mission is to safeguard our community, our families and our youth through his sponsorship of the anti-drug education program.
