Global Fusion- Bridging barriers for Implant excellence. The capital city of India, New Delhi, hosts the 10th edition of World Congress of Oral Implantology (WCOI) and American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) global conference 2016 once again. This time around the global conference was co-organized with the 5th edition of the ICOI South East Asia conference.  

After an extremely successful conference last year, The WCOI 2016 returns to New Delhi this year. The conference opened with preconference courses (PCC) on the 10th of November 2016 with nearly eleven PCC being organized at Hotel Leela Ambience.

Speaking of registrations to the conference, the President 10th WCOI, Dr.Mahesh Verma said “We have had an over whelming and enthusiastic response to the conference once again this year. Over 1300 dlegates have attaended this year. We were worried about the air quality in Delhi after the warning issued by the Government. It was heartening to see that things are better now and we have ensured that delegates who have travelled from different parts of the country and the world get a firsthand experience of this amazing field of Implantology.”

Over 13 countries like Bahrain, Canada, France, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, Nepal, Oman, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Singapore are participating in this truly global conference.

The organizing Secretary Dr.Brij Sabherwal said “Our team here in Delhi has worked very hard to ensure that everything goes according to plan. It is encouraging to see that so many young dental practitioners have attended this forum which is promising to be bigger than we anticipated.”.

“The WCOI 2016 as we can see is definitely one of the biggest international forums today for Implantology in India. The very fact that two other International organizations, the ICOI and the AAID have joined this forum speaks volumes of its Importance. Year after year we strive to better ourselves at what we do and this is one such forum that we are proud to be organizers of.” said The Organizing Chairman Dr. Shankar Iyer.

“We from the WCOI are happy to be back here for the 10th Edition of WCOI 2016. India and New Delhi has been fantastic as usual. We are looking forward to a wonderful learning experience here at the conference”, said the President of the WCOI 2016. Dr. Shigeo Soto.

The event themed ‘Global Fusion- Bridging the Barriers for Implant Excellence’ features lectures and presentations by speakers from around the world. The scientific schedule was divided into sessions.

In the first session Dr. Himanshu Aeran (India) and Dr. Frank Kistler (Germany) spoke on emerging trends in Implantology and the State-of-the-art. Dr. Kenneth Malament and Dr.Jihad Abdallah spoke on Soft tissue augmentation Aesthetic considerations and in the other session Dr.Ashish Kakkar, Dr.Georges Khoury and Dr. Karl Ludwig Ackermann enthralled the audience with their take on Hard tissue augmentation and Aesthetic considerations. All sessions ended with an invigorating discussion on the topics. The Trade fare and exhibition was inaugurated with much fanfare.

The event was inaugurated by the Chief guest, Hon’ble Justice H.L.Dattu, Chairman, National Human Rights Commission & Former Chief Justice of India. The ceremony was presided over by Hon’Ble Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Manish Sisodia and Hon’ble Minister of Home, Health, Power, PWD, Industries, Govt NCT of Delhi Shri Satyendar Jain was the Guest of Honour.

Candidates from across the world appeared for the WCOI exam which was conducted by the team of Dr. Kazuyuki Araki, Dr. Natalie Wong, Dr.Jihad Adallah, Dr.Shankar Iyer, Dr.Izumi Asahin, Dr.Kitetsu Shin.

Over 3 days of learning from the Masters in Implantology from around the world makes a delightful weekend .
