Since then, the Company operates in the marketplace under a common brand Coltène/Whaledent.

Technical centers of competence for manufacturing

COLTENE products are manufactured at four centers of competence. The polymer/chemistry products and consumables are concentrated in Switzerland, while the mechanical/technical products and dental instruments are mainly manufactured in the United States. Rotary instruments, such as burs and grinders, are produced on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Endodontics are developed and manufactured in Germany.

The American company Coltène/Whaledent Inc. in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio specializes in root canal points, self-threading parapulpal pins, products for model-making in the dental lab, orthodontic instruments (Dentronix), patient safety/hygiene products (Hygenic), and small table-top equipment.

In 2002, COLTENE acquired the German company ROEKO and completed its polymer/chemistry product range of impression and filling materials with high-quality wadding products, highly-absorbent and resilient paper, and gutta percha points to effectively remove fluids and moisture during the preparation process of a root canal, as well as other consumables.

With the acquisition of Cutting Edge Instruments (Bridgewater Corners, Vermont) in 2007, COLTENE expanded its range of diamond rotary instruments manufactured in Switzerland with carbide burs.

In 2010, COLTENE acquired Vigodent domiciled in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, strengthening its market presence in Latin America.
